The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, based out of Brackley, UK, brings together over 1,300 dedicated and determined people that design, develop, manufacture, and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and Grand Prix winner, George Russell.

Within the Teams Applied Science division, we apply Formula One talent to customer projects, and it is within this division that we now have opportunities to join as part of our Applied Science Graduate scheme. As part of this graduate scheme, you will work on exciting projects and be able to immerse yourself into the learning and experiences of a truly high-performing team.

Using a creative, analytical approach alongside detailed design work, you will support senior engineers with large projects as well as projects of your own. Supported and mentored by experienced engineers, you will develop your skills and knowledge, connecting the theory you have learnt into practice.

Within this role, we are looking for graduate engineers who have an open and curious mind, a creative approach to engineering problems and are keen to develop themselves further in a demanding team orientated role.

The role

  • Supporting senior group members with large mechanical/composite design projects.
  • Assisting with the design and development of innovative components and solutions.
  • Generating 3D models, Assemblies and 2D drawings including defining and documenting manufacturing information.
  • Design and drawing of supporting equipment such as tooling.
  • Ownership of your components from design, through testing, to implementation on the race car.

What we are looking for

  • A strong degree (2:1 grade or equivalent is desirable) in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport Engineering or similar.
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5/3DX an advantage but not essential.
  • An interest in mechanical and composite design, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail while being able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Recruitment process
