A day in the life
As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Providing engineering support to the design architecture, development and selection of basic hardware components utilizing fundamental electrical engineering principles, theories, and techniques.
- Working on both initial design and detailed design activities as the maturity of the design progresses through its development phases.
- Developing or improving circuit boards (schematic and layout) using CAD.
- Generating or improving CAD library symbols and footprints.
- Supporting the fabrication and testing of prototype or deliverable hardware. Document and present results.
- Supporting unit and compliance testing and test documentation of the existing products.
- Participating in preparing and documenting Bill of Materials.
Must haves
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field - recent graduate or with 1 to 2 years of experience
- Understanding of electrical engineering and components
- Able to read electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams
- Able to detail design electrical circuit and PCB schematics
- Eager to learn and develop
- Knowledge and use of basic test equipment, such as oscilloscope, DMMs, power supplies etc.
- Ability to work with serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI and I2C
Nice to haves
- Experience in electrical engineering CAD software such as Altium, Cadence or any other similar
- Experience in medical device industry
- Experience in VHDL/Verilog, MATLAB, Embedded-C or any other firmware programing for embedded systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and technical writing
- Strong debugging and problem solving skills
- Strong “hands on” skills, with an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
