We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and engaging Graduate Site Manager.

As an Graduate Site Manager, you will be enrolled in the McLaughlin and Harvey Graduate Development Programme. This will give you the opportunity to develop in your chosen career, while also developing your leadership, professional and practical skills. We offer a mentor and structured Graduate programme to ensure you receive the support and guidance that you need in the early stages of your career. Training will offer a broader understanding of how the business operates by getting involved in interesting and challenging work. 

Recent projects include; Alexander Stadium, Kings College Hospital, Christchurch Court Refurbishment, Coventry University and Northcote Library. 

Responsibilities

Your main duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Working to programmes of works set out by the Contracts Manager or Site Manager
  • Having a clear understanding of planned work and communicating this to the team/subcontractor
  • Creating and maintaining accurate site reports
  • Assisting in overseeing all activities on-site
  • Managing resources of the project to maximise output and deliver to programme
  • Controlling various subcontract packages
  • Regularly reviewing the team progress against programme
  • Enforcing health and safety policies in line with the company policies and procedures
  • Attending subcontractor site progress meetings
  • Quality inspections
  • Site Inductions

Our 2-year Graduate Development Programme focuses on developing your skills both professionally and interpersonally. The programme is structured and with that you will get to experience some of our other departments including SHEQ and Digital Construction. We have a buddy scheme as part of this programme, and you will gain a recognised professional qualification in leadership and management. This is a fast track way to advance your career and will put you on a pathway to becoming chartered.

If there is another department that you would like exposure to during the programme, you will also have the opportunity to request this area as a rotation to your programme. 

How will I spend an average working week? 

You’ll be putting into practice what you’ve learned by working with experienced colleagues on a range of high profile projects.

You will get responsibility from an early stage in your career and will play a key role in helping deliver projects on time and under budget. You will also have opportunities to work on our high-profile projects.

Essential experience

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree, HNC or HND in a relevant Discipline
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home
  • Sound Commercial Awareness
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills
  • Happy to undertake site visits to anywhere in the UK
  • High levels of organisational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent numerical, IT and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast moving Environment
  • Ability to work on initiative with minimum supervision

Desirable

  • Hold a full UK driving license
  • A valid CSCS card 
  • Previous placement/internship experience in a similar role
