Our Summer Intern Programme

Mercer is seeking top talent to join our Global Investment Platform for an eight-week summer internship. This paid internship is designed for penultimate-year students, providing an accelerated foundation for your career. It’s a challenging and rewarding experience where you will work on real projects with actual clients.

Our Investments business provides investment tools, advice, and delegated solutions to trustees of pension schemes and other asset owners, such as endowments, foundations, and insurers, to support their asset portfolios.

As a summer intern, you will assist in developing and delivering solutions and advice to our clients. While strong technical and numerical skills are essential, effective project management and communication skills are equally important for collaborating with multiple teams and delivering our solutions to clients.

What you need to have:

  • Be a penultimate year student on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:1 degree.
  • Permanent Right to Work in the UK (we are unable to provide Visa sponsorship for this role).
  • Market Knowledge: A keen interest in financial markets, asset classes, and economic principles, along with a commitment to staying informed about market trends.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to creatively and efficiently identify and address challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: A strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness, particularly when analysing data and reports.
  • Communication Skills: The capability to clearly convey ideas and concepts, both in writing and verbally, to team members.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills that enable effective teamwork and engagement with other departments.
  • Quantitative and Technical Skills: Proficiency in mathematics and statistics, as well as strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, and financial software like Bloomberg is a plus.
