Reimagine. Refine. Release. Design defines everything we do. We’ll show you how to create products that end up in every customer’s home and wardrobe.

About the role

In this role, you’ll experience the key areas of fashion design and understand how they all work together to bring sustainable style, quality, and innovation to our customers.

What you’ll be doing

What does it take to create a product that becomes a must-have? It’s probably a lot more than you think. If you’re someone who has an eye on the trends that most people haven’t seen coming yet and have always had a flair for fashion, we’ll show you how to translate it into clothing loved by millions of people.

Over 12 months, you’ll rotate through different design teams such as menswear, womenswear, kids or lingerie to experience what it takes to design the highest quality, most stylish and sustainable fashion products.

What you’ll need

To succeed here, you’ll need to be a team player who tells it as it is, wants to aim high and learn fast.

Our Clothing and Home products are world-famous and high quality, so it's essential that you are working towards a design-related degree and have bags of work you're bursting at the seams to tell us about.

You'll show a passion for working in design at a retail company as well as hands on experience using Adobe Illustrator.

Our Industrial Placement Programmes are designed for undergraduates in their penultimate year of study. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of their preferred programme.

What we look for

We’re looking for creatively curious individuals who are always ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion trends. You should be someone who’s eager to innovate, not afraid to challenge the status quo, and determined to refine your craft in a fast-paced environment. A natural collaborator, you’ll work closely with different teams, bringing ideas to life with a keen eye for detail and a passion for sustainable design. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and create the next era of iconic M&S products, we’d love to see your portfolio.

Being an in-person business

We're at our best when we're close to customers, and for many of us at M&S, that means working in store every day.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected. It also means we can solve problems as soon as they arise, learn and grow as a team, build trust, and get closer to our colleagues.
