As a 2025 summer intern within the Software Engineering team, you will grow your skills through on-the-job training and professional development. You will participate in projects, work on solving problems, provide community service through our charity partners, and enjoying social events. Our summer internship programme offers the opportunity to build new skills and grow your professional network whilst providing an in-depth insight into career possibilities at MarketAxess. This is a full-time paid internship to commence on 2 June and conclude on 1 August 2025.

How you'll take us there

During the 9 weeks as a Summer Intern, you will:

  • Understand business requirements 
  • Participate in software design 
  • Provide time estimates 
  • Write code and unit tests 
  • Participate in code reviews 
  • Fix bugs 

What we’re looking for 

  • You will have an interest in technology demonstrated either via previous work experience, extracurricular activities, and/ or academic studies.
  • Exposure to JAVA programming language 
  • A strong interest in financial markets and how technology supports our business.
  • Experience in development/willingness to learn Java based server-side framework (Spring Boot) 
  • Understanding of browser-based technologies/willingness to learn (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React, AngularJS, AJAX) 
  • A curiosity for data and an ability to analyse information to draw conclusions and propose solutions.
  • Individuals who can connect the dots and think creatively.
  • The environment we work in is fast paced, you’ll need to demonstrate focus, resilience, and the flexibility to adapt to changing demands.
  • People who can collaborate with others, using their strong communication skills in the process.
