NEST360 is a partnership of 23 organisations with 18 in Africa, working with governments (Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Nigeria) to reduce neonatal mortality in hospitals through an implementation package of innovative devices, and education of clinicians and biomedical engineers, with locally-owned data to drive quality of care. LSHTM leads the implementation research, complex evaluation and economic assessment.

About the role

We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant in Neonatal Clinical Care to design, develop, and conduct quantitative analyses of neonatal ward interventions (e.g. CPAP, phototherapy, antenatal corticosteroids, and Kangaroo Mother Care). You will assist with the organisational processes and editing of journal submissions, including supporting writing, aligning visualisations, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs.

You will have a first degree (or higher) in the field of public health, epidemiology, medical statistics or other relevant quantitative science and clinical paediatric experience in LMIC settings. A strong background in quantitative analysis using STATA, skills to evaluate neonatal care processes, and experience of scientific writing and visualisation are also essential. The post is part-time 21 hours per week, 0.6 FTE and fixed-term for 6 months. The post is funded by a consortium of private foundations (the prime grant holder is Rice360) and available immediately.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,182-£41,240 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
