That’s why our Risk teams play a vital role. From supporting lending applications and pricing decisions to assessing the credit quality of billions of pounds of borrowing, they enhance our decision-making across the Group.
Our Risk Graduate Scheme is a fantastic opportunity to make a real contribution to the success of our business. You’ll dive into the latest and most effective techniques for analysing, modelling, monitoring, reporting, and mitigating risks. You'll work with a series of different teams, gaining diverse experience in various risk scenarios, all while building the essential and transferable skills you’ll need for a successful career as a Risk Manager. What you'll learn
Over two years, you'll complete multiple placements, each focusing on a different aspect of our work. For example:
- analyse and assess risk to forecast performance.
- familiarise yourself with regulatory frameworks.
- work with sophisticated data modelling techniques.
- design and launch new products, like payment technologies or current accounts.
- advise on business lending and monitor portfolio quality.
- dive into areas like sustainability or climate risk.
You’ll be matched up with a buddy or mentor to support you and offer guidance throughout the scheme, and you’ll have access to technical and business-aligned training, including platforms such as Viva Learning and Learning Management systems, to further help your development.
With opportunities for extracurricular activities to expand your skills and experience across the bank, and with introductions to colleague networks, you’ll make great connections to further your career.
All you experience across the scheme will give you a well-rounded view of risk management. By the end of the scheme, you'll have everything you need to progress in your career.
The work you could be doing
In all our locations you’ll work with experts to help us lend money responsibly, whether it’s with our large multinational clients, or modelling decisions for millions of credit card customers, or working to interpret the latest set of regulations into complex business processes or working to ensure outcomes from digital processes still deliver for our customers.
Each location also hosts specialist teams, experts in their field which you can learn from.
Birmingham is a centre for Economic Crime Prevention, through both strategic defence and a powerful intelligence unit these teams keep our customers safe.
Bristol is a hub for modelling and forecasting. Bristol teams also partner with the business to provide expert advice and support on operational risk matters.
Edinburgh houses a broad range of teams and is the heart of our Insurance, Pensions and Investment business. Providing expert risk partnering, insight and support is key to a heathy company.
Leeds boasts a variety of modelling teams and forecasting specialists. They work with sophisticated models, large data sets and other parts of the Group to inform decision making.
London is the hub of our Financial Markets business. Our teams work to evaluate and mitigate the risk posed by market shifts, forecast liquidity requirements, and engage our Regulators.
What you need to apply
A 2:2 degree or above in any discipline from any university.
Locations
This scheme operates in Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, and London. You’ll select one of these locations and be based there throughout your programme We support hybrid working with at least two days a week in the office.
Closing date
Applications for our Risk Graduate scheme close on 20th October 2024. Our graduate schemes may close early if we receive a high number of applications, so it’s best to apply as soon as you can.
