History Hit is seeking a Junior Editor to join our creative team and contribute to the editing and make-up of our engaging history podcasts alongside our Producers.

The role

Based in the heart of Shoreditch, we are an award winning digital content studio and media network who are currently on a quest to find a Junior Editor to join our team at History Hit. History Hit is the UK’s biggest digital history brand across podcasts, Video on Demand, social media and the web, with more than 100,000 subscribers to its TV and audio networks. Its podcast network, including Dan Snow’s History Hit, has millions of listens each month. Is this your next opportunity?

We are looking for a Junior Editor who is interested in editing audio, video and podcasts on our platforms. As part of our content creation efforts, a Junior Editor is generally responsible for editing music and audio on podcasts we feature.

The ideal candidate will be strongly familiar with software and digital tools such as SFX libraries for audio and video production, and will have a can-do attitude to learn more. For the right candidate, this can be a fantastic entry-level opportunity into the industry.

How you'll spend your time

  • Edit 4 to 5 podcast audio/video episodes a week with varying complexity, including SFX, music and archive for audio and video.
  • Upload and monitor podcasts.
  • Collaborate with the producers and talent to develop high-quality content and episode descriptions.
  • Contribute to new ideas, formats, talent and pilot.
  • Help with consistently elevating the sound and appearance of our podcasts.
  • Preparation and research for podcasts where necessary.
  • Creating show trails when needed.
  • Follow guidance by the Video Editors and Producers on our team for collaborative efforts and joint projects for our platforms.

What you need to succeed

Skills matter, experience is useful, attitude is everything. 

  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for history.
  • Awareness of how to use music and SFX libraries for audio and video production.
  • A good understanding of Adobe Suite including Adobe Audition, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
  • Knowledge of AI tools for editing purposes.
  • Experience in editing audio and video.
  • Able to troubleshoot and find solutions for technical issues.
  • Desire to learn and take on feedback.
  • Excellent time keeping and ability to stick to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication, active listening, motivation, and a positive, proactive attitude.
