Start your career in veterinary nursing and learn the principles of quality care as a Patient Care Assistant in our brand-new vet practice, for our purpose designed, high quality practice, which is anticipated to open in November 2024. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who wants to grow, develop and is looking for an exciting new challenge working within a brand-new practice.
The Patient Care Assistant plays an essential role in the day-to-day running of the practice, they provide support in caring for pets, including walks, kennel management, sterilisation of equipment and cleanliness of the practice and working alongside the registered nursing team providing vital observations, nutritional support, and always maintaining high clinical standards of patient care.
The role provides the perfect introduction for those wanting to pursue a career in veterinary nursing and is usually the first step to becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse. This can also be a stand-alone career with structured CPD and career progression within the Patient Care Assistant role itself.
Patient Care Assistants are a core part of our nursing team, and the role provides a varied and exciting career opportunity. Hours: 40 hours per week, between the hours of 8.30am-7.30pm Monday-Friday. You may be asked to work Saturday on a rota.
Some of your responsibilities
- Exercising, grooming, and feeding hospitalised animals
- Monitoring and providing supportive care to inpatients
- Preparing theatre and relevant equipment for use
- Cleaning and preparing accommodation for animals
- Restraining animals for treatment
- Reception duties, including advising clients on preventative health care
- Record keeping

About us
Located in the heart of Kidderminster within walking distance of the town, this purpose designed 4000 sq ft site comprises of separate cat and dog waiting areas and wards, isolation facilities, 6 consulting rooms, bereavement room, two theatres, dental suite, imaging room and associate rest room. The practice will be well equipped with the usual in-house diagnostic and surgical kit.
You will be warmly welcomed into our team and will be joining other key start-up associates to build and drive the practice performance while providing support to each other. Along with an enthusiastic and fun team with high clinical standards, our aim is to provide the best possible medical and surgical veterinary care for our patients in a pleasant, friendly environment - Making a Better World for Pets.
