Job description

Are you looking for a summer internship in Marketing and Communications that sharpens your commercial acumen and hones your technical skills? If you answered “yes,” then our Summer Internship Programme is perfect for you!

You’ll join one of L&G’s divisions for an 8-week placement running from July to August. This programme is a fantastic route to our Graduate Programme, though completing the summer programme doesn’t guarantee a graduate role.

What you'll be doing

  • Shadow and collaborate with the senior team: liaise with our subsidiary businesses and stakeholders to ensure our communications align with Legal & General’s broader messaging and corporate objectives.
  • Support the execution of external communications strategies by drafting press releases and reviewing measurement.
  • Help create written materials such as press releases, award submissions, case studies, speeches, and presentations.
  • Monitor forward features and the news agenda across key publications.
  • Support brand strategy, positioning, messaging, and design.
  • Assist with an events programme that includes in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, such as press events and industry conferences.
  • Work with our internal communications team to support proactive and two-way communications across the business through various channels including email, video, townhalls and other events
  • Provide administrative support work closely throughout our Marketing and Communications teams to ensure all activities are aligned and maximised across multiple channels, including proactive and reactive social media channels.

  • Collaborative - working together constructively
  • Purposeful – working with pace and energy

We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:

  • Penultimate year of university (i.e. graduating in 2026)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Analytical mind-set
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively; you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and a team-player
  • Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
