L3Harris in Bristol/Burgess Hill/Barrow provides enduring, robust and cutting edge Platform Management Systems (PMS) for both the UK Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates - this skill set also extends into cruise liners and super-yachts in the commercial marine market.

Your new role

We are looking for Graduate Systems Engineers to join our Engineering team working on a variety of Integrated Platform Management System projects.

Reporting to one of our Systems Engineering Leads, you will take a role in the Systems Engineering activities for key engineering development programmes working as part of a team of cross-functional engineers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Contribute to the definition and management of system level requirements
  • Management of Verification and Validation evidence and gaining understanding of the importance of traceability to customer requirements
  • Development of Verification and Validation plans
  • Producing Acceptance and Selection criteria
  • Contribution and understanding of the design and review processes
  • Management of technical queries, risk and engineering change management process

What you’ll bring

  • 2:1 or above in Systems Engineering (or similar) or equivalent qualification and experience (e.g. Apprenticeship)
  • Awareness of Systems Engineering development lifecycles and a basic understanding of key aspects of Systems Engineering such as Requirements, Architectural design, Integration and/or Verification.
  • The ability to document design solutions clearly and concisely for understanding by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including hardware or software engineers, project managers and external customers.
  • Proficient IT skills in all standard Microsoft Office applications and some demonstrable experience of Software development (C, C++ or. Python)
  • Willingness to learn and tenacious approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrable passion for technology and keeping up to date with latest innovations
