INVISTA's Gloucester site is looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial Intern keen to work on manufacturing advancement and automation, to join the Operations Performance Fibres Team in summer 2025 for 13 months. Our plant is dedicated to the production of quality products used in the automotive airbag industry.

What You Will Do

  • Lead projects to enhance existing assets to improve yield, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with the site based and global operations and engineering teams to identify, design, and implement solutions for improving asset performance. This would include conducting data analysis to gain insights and determine future projects.
  • Design and implementation of Mechanical/Electrical modifications to upgrade existing machinery.
  • Opportunity to work with 3D printer and workshop equipment as required.
  • Development of dashboards and apps for use within the manufacturing group.

Previous interns’ projects include

  • Design, development, and installation of mechanical process enhancements which included CAD modelling, interacting with contractors and financial project assessments.
  • Advancement of digitisation strategies to modernise manufacturing processes across global facilities. Employing emerging technologies in autonomous systems, analytics, and robotics, such as camera analysis, co-bots, Raspberry Pi(s), etc.
  • Applying cutting edge data analytics to dictate optimised process parameters. Performing design of experiment studies to verify statistical models.
  • Automation enhancement of systems to reduce/eliminate human Interaction on a number of repetitive tasks.
  • Review of process equipment performance to enable replacement, offering enhanced reliability and performance.

Who You Are

  • You will be studying towards a degree in Mechanical, Robotic, Mechatronic, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or other Engineering disciplines.
  • Be proactive, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage your own workload and priorities.
  • You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to contribute within a team orientated environment.
  • You will be adept at operating outside of your comfort zone and apply economic and critical thinking to identify value creation activities and process improvements.
  • You will be a self-starter and be committed to learning and developing new skills.
