Wentworth House Rail Systems, the design house of Keltbray Rail, are looking for graduate engineers to undertake a development role towards becoming a civil design engineer. The role involves working as part of a rail design team, to deliver the BIM (Building Information Management) and CAD (Computer Aided Design) designs for overhead line structure foundations and structural assessments.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Acquire working knowledge of designing overhead line infrastructure, as enabled by the on-the-job training programme.
  • Master the applicable CAD and design tools.
  • Develop a working knowledge of CDM, safety standards and procedures.
  • Develop a working experience of delivering engineering and design documents as guided by the senior engineer.
  • Work on assignments to deliver designs as directed by the senior engineer.
  • Carry out site surveys and coordinate work with site teams as required.
  • Production of 3D models and CAD technical drawings.
  • Handling of documentation at all points in the project lifecycle.
  • Provide administrative support to the engineers in relation to project related tasks.
  • Ensure performance is in line with the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, requirements management and right-first time.
  • Ensure design work is delivered in line with projects work information and employer requirements.
  • Ensure design work is delivered in line with applicable standards and specifications.

Skills, experience, and qualifications

  • University degree in civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools and the BIM environment.
  • Experience in using Microsoft office and SharePoint tools.
  • Possess good leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Collaborative and clear Communicator.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to self-check and monitor own performance according to budget constraints.
  • Basic knowledge of general civil works standards and regulations.
  • Valid Driving Licence.
