We currently looking for an Electrical Engineer at Johnson Matthey in our Graduate Engineering Programme (GEP) as part of the Group Engineering function. The GEP supports the key capabilities of our business and the rapid professional progression of future engineers. Graduates on the GEP will undergo various technical and leadership development while completing high priority business projects. They will be assigned a mentor to support progress towards Chartered Engineer status.

This engineering application will be for consideration of your first rotation, although we encourage individuals to rotate into other project areas and functions

Engineering projects may include

  • Develop and implement engineered solutions for production improving safety, sustainability performance, and reliability
  • Commission new plant equipment and develop/deliver training for operators
  • Mechanical and maintenance optimisation
  • Electrical AC Power Systems, Motors and Drives, Control Instrumentation and Grounding systems.
  • Implement standardized JM processes to drive continuous improvement toward goals
  • Energy, water, waste and emission monitoring to drive sustainability opportunities

JM GEP consists of three rotations of nominal 8 months in lengths over 2 years in different business locations within the UK. At least 1 assignment will be on a JM manufacturing site to build real world engineering understanding This experience will enable you to develop a wide breadth of understanding of the various businesses in our company and develop technical skills for a long career in engineering. To support you through this and ensure proper development, we believe strongly in mentoring and coaching. You will receive plenty of care and expert career advice along the way through those partnerships

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum 2.1
  • Must be geographically flexible and have a desire to relocate to any JM site for three placements for the duration of the development programme and first role following the end of the programme. Relocation assistance is provided to those who geographically qualify as determined by placements
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a true career aspiration to lead others is essential; must be adaptable, strive for excellence, and demonstrate a positive attitude in the face of adversity
  • Strong interpersonal skills a must, coupled with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships to achieve results
  • Must be able to deal with ambiguity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills essential
