We are looking to place a Finance Intern as part of our Finance team, to be based at our EMEA headquarters located in Birmingham, UK.

    The successful candidate will learn about, gain experience in, and provide administrative support to our Accounting functions relating to assigned projects as directed by the Project Controller which will include accounts receivable, expenses, cashflow controls, accounts payable, job costs, and earned value analysis.

    Additional responsibilities will include

    • Follow up with vendors and suppliers for correct accounts payable documentation and payment information
    • Active management of project cashflow with Project Managers
    • Accounts Payable entry.
    • Obtain releases of retentions from all suppliers and subcontractors for the previous month’s payment before issuing checks for further payment.
    • Maintain log on progress payments and release of retentions.
    • Maintain an ongoing record of retainage being held on subcontracts/vendors. Review contracts for release of retainage and notify the Project Manager of any upcoming releases.
    • Assist in retainage billings
    • Monitor special payment arrangements to assure that time-sensitive payments are made on time.
    • Set up jobs and contracts in Timberline, which includes entering and managing budgets based on approved schedule of values
    • Enter owner change orders, changes to estimates, subcontracts, subcontractor change orders and purchase orders.
    • Work with project managers to provide and update cost and value management on projects
    • Manage the inputting and payment scheduling of all incoming invoices, both for projects and for the general management of the business.
    • Administer systems for expenses and contractor payments to ensure smooth and accurate recording, processing and payment
    • Make payment collection calls and provide payment collection information to management. Assist project manager with collection effort to ensure timely payment from client.

    Qualifications and requirements

    • Work effectively and efficiently, with a helpful and friendly attitude of service to all Work in conjunction with all levels of the organisation including owners, project managers and project control functions as directed by the project controller.
    • Any other related task within the scope of the role, as directed by the project controller.
    • Degree level education is preferred, but not required.
    • Accounting aspirations would be beneficial.
    • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
    • Excellent skills to manage internal and external key contacts
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, is required.
    • Good communication skills and phone manner are essential.
