About the role

We are looking for a highly creative and innovative Junior Designer to work on Radio Times magazine, the UK’s best-loved premium TV Listings magazine. You will work as part of the creative Art Desk, producing dynamic and engaging editorial and commercial pages.

As a Junior Designer, you will;

  • Work on Radio Times magazine layouts for editorial features, regular sections + commercial content, producing excellent print-ready design work
  • Work with commercial and editorial copy/pictures, taking in corrections + making changes where necessary to page layouts
  • Work with established design templates + documents, updating these where required
  • Report into the Deputy Art Editor, you will be responsible for ensuring your work is of the highest standard
  • Liaise closely with the rest of the Art Desk, Picture department, Production department, the wider editorial group and other internal/external teams
  • Be asked to work on extra material such as supplements and attend magazine events as a representative of the editorial team from time to time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or similar discipline and level, with a strong portfolio of work
  • Relevant print-based design experience in a busy commercial environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe CC – especially InDesign & Photoshop. Some knowledge of image retouching is useful
  • Strong attention to detail and a good understanding of dynamic typography + use of pictures.
  • Some creative industry experience is desirable
  • Great communication skills, and an excellent collaborator
  • Excellent organisational skills that support the rest of the team
  • Determination to achieve and succeed
  • Ability to manage your time effectively, responding to the fast pace of a weekly magazine
  • Passion for magazines and graphic design
