Programme overview

We are looking for people with a curious mind who wish to explore the exciting field of technology and develop their career in a diverse, innovative, global organisation. Our programme is designed to give you the flexibility to build the career you have always wanted, or one you never knew you’d like, either by working towards a specialism or by building a more general skillset.

Our dynamically structured induction programme will provide training, mentors and a network of graduates, all to support your entry into the dynamic world of technology at HSBC and help you to develop the technical and personal attributes required for your success.

During the 2-year programme you, will be working within a team, contributing and delivering valuable work. Throughout the programme you will be immersed in an environment that thrives on individual growth. You will have access to our very own Technology Academy, professional development series, mentorship opportunities, leadership talks and team activities with other Technology Graduates from the global community.

At the end of the programme you’ll have the option to continue in the role/team you have spent your time with or choose to explore different opportunities within HSBC Technology. We will support you no matter which step you take.

HSBC work across a wide number of areas from Cyber, AI, Data, Cloud, and Digital Channels and Products. Applicants will be asked for their areas of interest during the recruitment process which will be taken into consideration with placing successful candidates. We encourage all applicants to be curious and open to multiple opportunities.

What will you do?

  • Examples of roles (but not limited to. Please note that we cannot guarantee that all roles will be available at the time of the programme) – full stack engineer, API engineer, data analysts, solutions analyst, scrum master, technology architects.

Where these roles will lead to

You will become a Technical Specialist in your designated area or a Technology Generalist who can work across the entire landscape.  We need both to help us drive innovation throughout the organisation.

Qualifications – External

Requirements: Currently studying or have graduated in an Undergraduate degree between 2021 to 2023. We are unable to consider Postgraduate studies for this programme. You will have achieved or will be on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:2 Degree classification. Be fluent in English and have the right to work full time in the UK. You will be required to be located near or within commuting distance to Sheffield.

Additional requirements – International Students

For the Sheffield Graduate Programme you must be in receipt or have applied for your UK PSW/Graduate visa prior to starting the programme. HSBC will not cover any costs associated with this visa and it will be up to the successful applicant to have secured this visa before the start date of the programme. If you are already in receipt of your Graduate visa, then you must have at least 18 months remaining on your visa at the start of the programme
