As an Engineering Intern (Operator Training Simulator) at Honeywell, in Bracknell, you will be trained and supported in working with external customers and Honeywell teams on Operator Competency solutions, Operator Training Simulators and Process Digital Twins. This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model.

This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This internship is set up for 12 months and will be for a candidate requiring a sandwich internship as part of their degree, with a potential opportunity for a permanent role after graduation.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the external customer and Honeywell teams on Operator Competency solutions, Operator Training Simulators and Process Digital Twins.
  • Work as part of a global team on projects, including activities such as:
  • Interpreting Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Defining process scope
  • Hardware/software system design e.g. virtualization system sizing
  • Dynamic process model development
  • User interface development
  • Documentation
  • Internal Wiki site development, documenting best practices.
  • Tool development.
  • Candidate will adhere to Honeywell best practices and appropriate guidelines. Ensuring adherence to relevant internal and industry best practices and guidelines will be an important aspect of the role.
  • You will gain exposure to DCS/SIS systems from Honeywell and other manufacturers

Key skills and qualifications

  • Currently studying a degree in Chemical Engineering, requiring an industrial placement in 2025 as part of the degree.
  • Solid ability in MS Office, (such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to at least one of the following process simulation packages: UniSim Design, Aspen HYSYS, Invensys DYNSIM or similar.
  • Some exposure or interest in programming skills, such as VB, VBA, Python, etc., either from the workplace, a hobby or your degree
  • Business level oral and written English communication and presentation skills
