As an Embedded Firmware Engineer Intern at Honeywell, in Horsham, you will work in an agile team developing the next generation of our industry leading building energy management systems, and working in C++ and modelling Object Orientated software with UML within CASE development tools you will be focusing on communications protocols, IOT and control algorithms in our systems flagship products. This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model, but you will start the role fulltime in the office, in order for us to support your learning.
This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This internship is set up for 12 months and will be for a candidate requiring a sandwich internship as part of their degree, with a potential opportunity for a permanent role after graduation.

Key responsibilities
- You will be working alongside, and supported in your learning by, other developers and architects as part of a scrum team enhancing features on our latest range of BEMS controllers.
- Design and development of embedded software focussing on communications protocols, IOT and control algorithms for our latest connected buildings control and energy monitoring systems.
- Embedded software design and modelling using UML code generating development tools.
- Building upon core platforms
- Work as part of a global agile team
Key skills and qualifications
- Currently studying towards a degree in electronic engineering, computer science, or software engineering, that requires a sandwich placement in 2025.
- Has a passion for embedded software development and looking for real product engineering exposure.
- Provable knowledge and passion for object orientated principles., (this could be from your degree, work experience, or a hobby).
- Experience of working in C++ (this could be from your degree, work, or a hobby)
- The ability to commute to Horsham for this internship.
