As an Advanced Systems Project Engineer Intern at Honeywell, in Yeovil, you will be given the opportunity to learn two areas of the department in this rotational internship: Systems Modelling & Analysis and Systems Engineering within our Aerospace Environmental Control Systems (ECS) department.

This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell.

This internship is set up for 12 months and will be for a candidate requiring a 2025 sandwich industrial internship as part of their degree, with a potential opportunity for a permanent role after graduation.

Key responsibilities

You will be fully trained within a supportive and nurturing team to achieve the below. 

  • You will work on Environmental Control Systems / Components for aircraft applications, undertaking tasks including building steady state and dynamic models of Environmental Control Systems; performing and analysing system performance simulations, providing analytical input to the design process and conducting the analysis and interpretation of test results.
  • Entity–component–system Systems Engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the design and development of potentially large and complex aircraft bleed air management systems, where a ‘system’ is understood to be an integration of subsystems or components working together toward a common objective.  Core technologies include turbomachinery, electro-mechanical valves, heat exchangers and associated electronic controls.  It encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including, system concept development, design, build, qualification, certification, and in-service support.  The role includes responsibility for the complete system life cycle: systems requirements capture and management, systems design, support to systems modelling and performance testing.

Key skills and qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace, or Mathematics that requires a yearlong industry placement in 2025
  • Demonstratable studies within thermodynamic, fluid flow or control theory
  • Can commit to working from our Yeovil site Monday to Friday during the 12-month internship
