At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

The role

The Group Finance division covers multiple departments in the Honda Motor Europe Finance team that work together to ensure financial efficiency, governance, compliance, and strategy execution, to establish standards and to create consistency in the processes and activities, meeting internal and regulatory requirements.

The role is based within the Group Finance, working closely with the different teams to assist in a variety of key financial activities, primarily focusing on Indirect Strategic Sourcing, Property management, and Financial Risk and Compliance and with potential for involvement in other areas of Group Finance including Treasury, Financial & Environmental Reporting, Tax, Customs giving exposure to a broad range of financial operations within a large organization.

The role provides a great understanding of what a Finance Division in a multi-national company does and allows to get fully involved in the activities of Group Finance, gaining first-hand experience and deep knowledge.

The role will be responsible to support the Financial Risk and Compliance Department Manager in the PLC/ELC SOX audit activities, to support the Indirect Sourcing team in the internal governance process and in the procurement events, to support the Property Department Manager in the administration of the UK and PAN-E property portfolio, to support the Financial and the Environmental team in coordination the group external audits activities.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist in the strategic sourcing activities for indirect services covering the 3 main categories of marketing, IT and business operations and support the preparation of the necessary documentation to ensure internal compliance and governance.
  • Provide administrative support for the management of the company’s property portfolio and contribute to the property projects to streamline the portfolio and to optimise the expenses for the facilities management.
  • Help to coordinate and run the SOX program in Honda Motor Europe, including both Process Level Controls (PLC) and Entity Level Controls (ELC), assisting to collect and to verify the documentation from the control and business owners, collaborating with internal and external auditors, to ensure compliance with the regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support statutory and group reporting and external audit requirements in UK and across the multiple locations in the European Region.

Qualifications skills and experience

Required

Must be an undergraduate who is undertaking a degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related fields, or interested in developing a career in Finance, looking for a placement as part of their studies.

Desirable

  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential, as is the ability to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and conditions.
  • A self-starter who works well both individually and as part of a team.
  • Good Excel skills preferred.
  • Basic PowerPoint and Word knowledge.
  • Interest in procurement, property management, financial risk, or compliance.
  • Understanding of internal controls and the SOX Act is beneficial, though not required.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Oracle Hyperion Planning and Financial Management would be an advantage, but training will be given.
