Job description

We are looking for a high calibre candidate to join our international communications team for PR/media relations and communications as a PR and Communications Intern. The 13 month communications placement is based in Winnersh, Reading, Berkshire, UK, and you will be reporting to the Head of Communications for UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa for Hewlett Packard Enterprise based in the UK.
Key tasks will be to drive PR, communications and analyst relations activities including analysis of coverage, production of content and organisation of activities. You will be exposed to a demanding role, which offers a valuable insight into the marketing profession as a whole and specifically all aspects of PR
What you'll do
- Running and managing regular progress meetings with agency teams around the world.
- Managing the associated budget trackers resulting from these reviews.
- Distributing press releases and contents to the international agency teams when requested.
- Communicating with journalists, including pitching news, sending invitations and tracking responses.
- Analysing and producing coverage reports on a regular basis.
- Manage reports of coverage on identified press releases and events.
- Support HPE PR team and PR agency partners whenever they need any help.
- Assist with PR projects and events, including logistics support, including booking and managing travel, press pack production, badging and organisational activities as needed.
- Attend UK-based press events as needed to handle logistics, badging, handouts etc.
- Drive the press release program including loading press releases to newsroom, including aiding international agencies with newsroom operations.
- Working alongside the UKIMEA team to update the internal newsroom, and contribute to the internal communications.
What you'll need
- Potential interns must be in their 2nd year of a four-year degree which requires (or has an option for) 3rd year to be a one year's industrial placement, and are expected to achieve a minimum of a 2:1 grade
- Placement applicants should ideally come from degree courses focused on PR, Communications, Business and/or Marketing, however this is not essential.
- You must be eligible to work in the UK and be available to commence the placement at the beginning of July 2024 for 13 months.
About you
- Strong time and project management skills with a work ethic to do whatever is required.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to work on own with minimal direct day-to-day supervision.
- Good attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with high degree of personal credibility and professionalism.
- Interest in PR (e.g. involvement in student radio, newsletters, magazines etc..)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office to a high standard (particularly Excel & PowerPoint).
