The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate copy writer & SEO advocate to join the team as entry-level copywriting executive in our Performance Content team. We are looking for someone taking the first steps in their career, but this person should be keen to learn and develop into someone that can deliver client strategies and execute campaigns across a content driven landscape.

The ideal person will be someone who has a natural propensity towards writing content online. This role will involve drafting blog articles for clients, writing & optimising product pages, editing content, as well as assisting in the planning, deployment and reporting of SEO led campaigns and strategies.

An understanding of the SEO industry would be advantageous, but isn’t a mandatory requirement, as we’re happy to provide training and a clear development path. A desire to learn more about SEO in general to expand out into content SEO strategy tasks is a bonus.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in having written content online in the past whether as a student, intern, grad placement or in their personal lives. We would like for the candidate to be willing and able to share some examples of their written work prior to any interview.

Capabilities

Within your first six months we would expect you to be able to complete the following tasks:

  • Creating SEO focused on page copy including product descriptions, category copy, meta descriptions, and titles for client websites
  • Writing innovative and original article content to inspire and captivate our target audiences whilst delivering on SEO KPIs
  • Developing a clear and consistent brand tone across all content produced for clients.
  • Brainstorming engaging content ideas (individually or in teams)
  • Working with your line manager to review the copywriting strategy and adapting where required
  • Undertaking keyword research and analysis to help shape content approach for clients
  • Carrying out competitor and industry content to identify opportunities and insights
  • Measuring and tracking the effects of these optimisations using analytics tools
  • Working collaboratively and proactively with wide teams (technical SEO team, paid search, PR and planning teams) in order to identify to build respect and trust in your judgement.

Requirements

We don’t ask for a university degree here at Havas, as we believe experience is key. For this role all we ask is that you have:

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Creative flair and a positive, can-do attitude with a strong attention to detail
  • Past education/experience in journalism, English language/literature or related subjects
  • Strong time management skills, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Willingness and a hunger to take feedback on board
  • Strong collaboration skills and desire to work with others in a team
  • A working knowledge of uploading content into a website’s CMS
  • An understanding of SEO and how to incorporate best practises into copywriting (desirable but not essential)
  • A working knowledge of key content and SEO tools (AHRefs, SEMRush, Accuranker etc.)
  • Interest in web analytics and an ability to use data to back arguments
