Are you our next Tax Executive? As Gymshark’s global presence expands rapidly, so does the complexity of its tax obligations both domestically and internationally. The Tax Executive will contribute to managing Gymshark’s global tax position at a time of significant and exciting change. As part of the Finance function, the tax executive will interact with various internal divisions of Gymshark, gaining insight into all aspects of the business, as well as communicating with external advisers.
This is a rare opportunity to gain incredibly valuable experience across all taxes including indirect taxes, corporate taxes, employment taxes and customs duties. This role is ideal for an ambitious university graduate and/or someone with a year or so of experience working in tax.
What you'll be doing
The Tax Executive will get stuck in researching and solving complex tax problems with support from the rest of the tax team, helping with the preparation of tax returns, managing compliance deadlines, designing new processes and maximising the use of technology to minimise risk. Here are some of the specifics:
Indirect Taxes
- Extracting financial data and preparing EU VAT and Intrastat returns
- Managing Sales and Use Tax filings in the USA
- Extracting financial data and preparing GST/HST and QST returns in Canada
- Managing the submission of VAT returns in other territories such as New Zealand and Australia
- Ensure filing deadlines and payments are met
- Researching tax legislation and monitoring sales volumes to territories where Gymshark isn’t yet required to file VAT returns
- Reconciling tax data to the financial accounts to ensure Gymshark is paying the correct amount of tax
- Develop and deliver training for other departments in relation to Indirect Taxes
- Provide indirect tax cash flow forecasts to the finance team
Employment Taxes
- Preparation and submission of P11Ds
- Reporting of certain employee benefits via PAYE Settlement Agreement
- Regularly reviewing accounts ledgers for potential Benefits in Kind
- Assist in implementing new processes to minimise risk
- Design and deliver training to wider departments e.g. on Benefits In Kind
- Collect and manage data in relation to contractors to assist in IR35/employment status compliance
- Collect and manage data in relation to employee international travel to ensure compliance domestically and overseas e.g. Short Term Business Visitors, overseas tax residence, social security compliance, etc.
Corporate Taxes
- Assist Tax Manager with Corporate Tax compliance globally such as in the UK, USA, Hong Kong and Mauritius
- Review data and run reports to assist with Corporate Tax compliance
- Assist Tax Manager with taking advantage of tax incentives such as Capital Allowances, R&D and Patent Box
- Help with ensuring Gymshark complies with transfer pricing legislation globally and operates at arms-length when related Gymshark companies provide goods and services to one another
- Help to develop and maintain tax governance documentation for example tax risk register, process maps, strategies, policies, etc.
What you'll need
- Studying or keen to study ATT and/or CTA (Gymshark can support with costs)
- Existing experience in any area of tax is a plus
- Be comfortable being uncomfortable (you will never know everything about tax!)
- Strong IT skills and a passion to utilise technology to drive efficiencies and minimise risk
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven stakeholder management experience
The expectation would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week in GSHQ, Solihull, UK.
