Apparel Design Placement Solihull 2023

Your mission across the placement will be to support the Product Design team to create world-class Gymshark sportswear from range plan to finished article. You will work collaboratively within the Design Team, alongside key members of the Product teams (designers and developers), learning and developing every step of the way.

The Gymshark line is split into three main categories: Lifting, Hybrid and Rest Day. During a Apparel Design placement, you will play a key role in assisting with the design and development process of apparel across Men’s and Women’s product (including accessories) on a global scale.

Placement Start Date: 3rd July, 2023
Placement Duration: 13 Months (includes a one-month handover with the current placement student!)
Location: Solihull, UK
Closing Date: Sunday 20th November, Midnight (applications may close before the deadline, so please apply early to avoid disappointment)
Assessment Centre Date: 31st January, 2023 (at Gymshark HQ, Solihull)

What you’ll learn

• Supporting the Design Team with general day-to-day tasks and ensure all timelines are met
• Building design specifications and colouring up designs
• Preparing for team meetings including preparing and building presentations
• Keeping the Product Line Management system up to date with the relevant information
• Supporting in weekly fit sessions & taking accurate notes
• Working in partnership with the Development Team to fully realise the potential of your product through fit and function
• Collaborating with designers to produce innovative and inspiring mood boards
• Assisting in the design of cutting-edge, brand appropriate fitness apparel and accessories
• Demonstrating your creativity and flair and not be afraid to do things differently
• Assisting in the execution of a well-balanced and commercial range plan, informed by comparison shopping, industry awareness and trend analysis of current Gymshark styles
• Understanding marketplace trends and lifestyle of the consumer

To be successful for an Apparel Design placement with us, you will:

• Be currently enrolled in further education, in a creative degree and/or have a relevant portfolio to demonstrate your creative skills
• Have a passion for sportswear design, a creative mindset, and an eye for detail
• Be prepared to help with any task – teamwork is key
• Be able to take constructive feedback well to meet a brief
• Be fluent in Illustrator, Microsoft office programs with good sketching skills
• Basic 3D skills
