We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and driven Finance Intern (12 months) to play a key role in our Northern Europe Commercial Finance Team, working and owning product/region sales analytics, contractual reporting obligations for customers, quarter end variance analysis, sales models, ledger accounting and project ownership. To be successful as a Finance Intern, you should have strong analytical skills, be a clear communicator, proficient in excel and adaptable to working in changing and ambiguous situations.
The role
A Finance Internship within GE HealthCare (GEHC) is designed to enable undergraduates pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to gain hands-on work experience as the foundation of their professional lives. As an Intern you will receive specific supervision from both a direct manager, and a people leader, with the aim of nurturing your technical and soft skills to develop you into a well-rounded finance individual.
There will also be the opportunity to, at the end of your internship, apply for a place on the Financial Management Development Program (FMDP), which would start at the end of your studies. By applying for this internship, your application will automatically be considered for other FMDP Internships offered in the same location.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Closely support the UKI Commercial Finance Manager, being highly visible to the Northern Europe General Manager and CFO, developing FP&A, Controllership, BI and Commercial Finance skills.
- Product and Regional sales analytics and forecasting.
- Actively involved with quarter end; reconciling actual sales to forecast models and ensuring correct ledger accounting, analysing variances, providing daily updates on ledger movements, and expected landing position
- Carry out monitoring activities, such as contractual reporting obligations customers may have.
- Lead and own projects, liaise with multiple stakeholders, independent decision-making, and awareness of business impact.
Qualifications and Desired Characteristics
- Carries themselves with a positive attitude, a team player and able to deliver expected results on time
- Confident, self-motivated, able to demonstrate initiative and work with limited supervision when needed
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, highly numerate with a good attention to detail
- Confident in both oral and written communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and main Microsoft Office applications
- Fluent in English
- Taking a placement year as part of a curriculum leading to a bachelors or master's degree from an accredited university, college, or school
