What will you be doing?

As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will report to a Principal Design Engineer and will interface with a range of stakeholders throughout all Business Units of Galliford Try at the pre-construction and construction stages of projects to assist in providing above and below ground Temporary Works solutions. You will also interface with external stakeholders including consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

You will:

  • Initially, attend meetings and site visits with Design Engineer/Senior Design Engineer to discuss GTE Temporary Works services for specific tenders and projects
  • Where appropriate assist in the production of Temporary Works design briefs.
  • Prepare design calculations for above and below ground Temporary Works schemes.
  • Carry out checking of design calculations by other members of the GTE TW team or external design organisations.
  • Assist with the production of drawings, schedules etc. based on the results of design calculations.
  • Assist with the governance processes to ensure that designs and design checks are completed on time and within fee estimates.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with the Galliford Try Construction Business Management System so that the necessary standards of Safety, Quality & Environmental Management are achieved. Take a proactive approach to own Continuing Professional Development to maintain and advance own technical capability.

This role is available for a September 2025 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit yourself and the business.

As part of the graduate programme you will be expected to work in and around your preferred location from those advertised, with a high likelihood of travelling to other projects and locations around the UK in the future. This role is office based with site travel.

What are we looking for?

We invite applications from graduates who are passionate about the industry and have achieved, or are on track to achieve a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) prior to September 2025.

A full UK driving license (or currently learning) and the eligibility to live and work in the UK without restriction is essential for this role.
