The role

  • 10-week internship
  • 2nd June 2025 to 8th August 2025
  • 09:00 – 17:30 working hours
  • Based in Uptown Dallas

We are currently seeking the brightest students to join us for the summer between their penultimate and final year of study. Joining G-Research as an intern will enable you to develop your knowledge of working with successful legacy systems as they are modernised; a highly sought-after skill.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative, intellectually curious student to build world-class software. This challenging and satisfying software development role will also include delivering improvements to our production code.

Our Platform Engineering teams create leading-edge developer tools, develop core technologies within Infrastructure as a Service, build Big Data platforms, work on large-scale compute farms and shape user experience across key platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Working on projects around OS lifecycle automation and automation of data platforms
  • Automating and replacing old workflows
  • Setting up, patching and decommissioning systems
  • Optimising and troubleshooting software and its performance

You will be working on initiatives that contribute to enabling our aspiration of being world #1 such as public cloud, Data Center modernization, Performance optimization, Open source adoption and contribution

Induction and training

Successful candidates will join G-Research on our Internship programme, providing them with an in-depth introduction to the world of technology within finance, as well as extensive introductions to the internal workings of the business.

You will be paired with an experienced Engineer who will mentor you through your time with us. All interns will have access to numerous training courses, including online learning licences to hone your technical skills and soft skill training.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking aspiring Engineers who are enthusiastic about contributing to an automated, scalable, reliable and high performing platform.

We are looking for competent and practical software engineers with experience of object orientated programming languages, such as C#, Java or C++, alongside excellent academics. Students need to be completing at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related degree, and be available to start in June 2025. You will need at least a 3.4 GPA.

You will be enthusiastic and have a genuine interest in both software technology and the underlying hardware, as well as an appreciation of good software architecture, core programming techniques and data structures.

The ideal candidate will have the following

  • An interest in quantitative finance and an understanding of the role engineering plays within the space
  • The ability to prioritise, plan and deliver to support the wider team and ensure work remains on track
  • The ability to identify opportunities for improvement and a proactive approach to learning to stay ahead of the technology curve and identify how we can adopt new technologies in the ways we work
  • Balanced judgement, with the ability to evaluate different approaches and identify appropriate solutions
  • Adaptable communication style and approach, tailored to your audience, in order to convey compelling messages
  • The ability to understand the needs and challenges of others and present mutually beneficial solutions
  • A collaborative approach and a desire to build effective relationships across the business
