We operate a 12-month (September 2024 - August 2025) student placement programme within our Design team. This is an exciting opportunity where you will work with highly skilled and experienced engineering professionals and graduates who you can learn and develop with - the more questions you ask the more you will gain from your experience.  It is important to know that many of our industrial placements have been successful in obtaining graduate roles on completion of their degree.

To be eligible for an industrial placement within our Design team you should be working towards a degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering (or similar) and be able to demonstrate problem-solving and communication skills.

What you will do

During the placement you will take on responsibilities such as:

  • Generating engineering designs from concept through to manufacture, working within cost and timing requirements.
  • Be responsible for developing 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings using Siemens NX. 
  • Attending design reviews to present, discuss and critique ideas and review alternative solutions.
  • Work closely with procurement and production departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality targets are met.
  • Be responsible for the management of the project Bill of Materials.
  • Generate and present project material to customers and key internal stakeholders. 
  • Problem solving and fault rectification.
