About the Bright Network - EY Empower Programme

EY Empower is a new initiative developed in partnership with Bright Network, specifically designed to support those who come from traditionally under-represented groups in the industry.

If accepted on to the programme, you will be offered in-depth coaching and support throughout the rest of the EY recruitment process, to help you realise your full potential.

This will be provided across a variety of formats, including group and 1-2-1 coaching sessions, and sign-posting to relevant upskilling tools and material.

About the programme

Tax affects every aspect of our lives and laws are always changing. We help organisations from start-ups to influential multinationals manage every element of their business’s tax.

In Tax Technology and  Transformation (Tax TT), you’ll work closely with colleagues across borders, using EY tools and networks to solve complex business and tax problems. By combining the power of EY’s tax experience with innovative technology, you can help us transform the tax function of the future.

What will you be doing?

• Specialising in Tax Technology; however, you may work in different areas of tax such as Indirect tax or Operational Tax.
• Helping clients design their ways of operating and managing compliance, building bespoke technology solutions.
• Assisting in the successful delivery of tax projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach.
• Delivering high quality projects and advice to our clients.
• Building relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and growing your network skills and attributes for success.

How is it structured?

Join the Tax TT Summer Internship and you’ll gain experience in how we apply different technologies across the Financial Services (FS) sector. Develop an understanding of some of these technologies, and soon be ready to work alongside graduates on real client projects.

Bring an eagerness to learn, adaptability, curiosity and a passion for people and you could lay the foundations for a successful future. If you do a great job, you could be offered a place on the graduate programme to come back to when you finish university.

Across your five-week summer internship, dive into a variety of activities that will see you pick up brand-new skills, develop your strengths and prepare for tomorrow. As well as contributing to client projects, take on extra learning opportunities that broaden your experience in business, leadership and technology. Technology in Tax TT

We work across many industries including, Banking and Capital Markets, Asset Management and Insurance. The projects can span from Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning based solutions to the build, implementation and deployment of Cloud-based solutions.

Are you eligible to apply?

If you meet the EY Empower criteria below, you’re in your penultimate year at university, or if you’re already in your final year but will be doing a one-year Master’s degree, or taking a gap year, this internship is for you.

To be eligible for the EY Empower programme, you must identify within any of the listed groups below:

• A minority ethnic group, including (but not limited to) Black Heritage, Mixed/Multiple Ethnic Heritage and Asian 
• Female
• LGBTQ+
• From a lower socio-economic background
• Identify as having a disability

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject - some programmes will require a subject relevant to the business area, and have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.
