Job description
We are seeking a Junior Laboratory Analyst to join our fast paced food microbiology department in Belfast.
This is a full time permanent role working 36.25 hours per week - Monday to Friday 09:45 till 18:00 whilst training. This role will require working rotational weekend shifts once fully trained.
- Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis.
- Food sample preparation in line with company protocols.
- Microbiological analysis of food, feed and environmental samples.
- Training and operation of relevant equipment.
- General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination.
- Accurate Data entry into laboratory database.
- Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system.
- Effective communication with all employees.
- Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor.
- Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level/HND in relevant science subject
- A level in a science related subject
- GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
- Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)
- Comfortable working in a busy environment
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
