We are looking for enthusiastic and professional people to join our Installations Team within the Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Area. As a Regulatory Officer, Installations you will be at the forefront of protecting people and the environment from harm and securing environmental improvements.

You will be responsible for the regulation of activities that come under the Environmental Permitting Regulations, undertaking inspections at a range of industrial sites including landfill, biowaste treatment and food & drink.

To achieve our aims, it is important that we work closely with other local and national teams, companies, communities, and our partner organisations.

  • Conducting site inspections and responding, investigating and undertaking appropriate enforcement action.
  • Analysis and interpretation of environmental monitoring and performance data.
  • Using your influencing and negotiating skills to ensure best practice.
  • Dealing with people within industry, local communities and other interested groups. • Responding to environmental incidents and dealing with complaints or queries from members of the public about the sites we regulate.

The team

The posts are in our Installations Team. The team works flexibly, delivering regulation at industrial process sites including the food and drink, chemical manufacturing, metals, landfill, waste treatment, energy from waste and oil and gas sectors within the Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire Area.

We are looking for enthusiastic and professional people to join the team with a focus on landfill, biowaste treatment, chemical, energy from waste and the food & drink sectors.

Experience/skills required

You will be a proactive, self-motivated and confident communicator, used to influencing and negotiating to deliver outcomes, with strong interpersonal skills, well-developed technical expertise and regulatory experience within an industrial environment.

You'll preferably

  • Have regulatory and/or industrial experience.
  • Be familiar with environmental management systems, auditing, and root cause analysis.
  • Be able to interpret environmental monitoring and performance data.
  • Manage multiple demands and deliver outcomes independently.
  • Take initiative and practice a continuous improvement approach.
  • Have a degree in a scientific, environmental or engineering discipline or possess equivalent knowledge/experience Have practical operational experience and understanding of environmental regulation.

It would be helpful if you’re a member of a relevant professional organisation e.g. IEMA or CIWM.

We utilise hybrid working including office/home working. A full UK driving licence is required to travel for site visits and other locations. A vehicle will be made available for business travel in line with our policies.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Interviews will be conducted at one of our offices within Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire and are expected to take place early December. Successful candidates may be kept in a pool for future vacancies within the next 6 months.
