Key responsibilities
- Produce 2D geotechnical models and drawings using geotechnical design software for routine design problems (slope stability, retaining wall design, settlement/movement impact assessment etc.).
- Completing design calculations for foundations and applying specific methods appropriate to in-situ ground conditions.
- Assist in producing technical documents including desk studies, ground investigation reports (GIRs), geotechnical design reports (GDRs), specifications.
- Designing ground investigation campaigns and procurement documentation and drawings;
- Supervising ground investigations in the field and other geotechnical related aspects of construction.
- Scheduling laboratory tests on collected samples and reviewing results/borehole logs.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential:
- Minimum 2.1 Bachelor Degree or Masters in Civil Engineering, Engineering
- Geology, Geology or similar related subject.
- Enthusiasm for a career in ground engineering.
- Can communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and outside agencies and build effective working relationships and always aiming to exceeding client expectations.
- Adheres to all Codes of Practice, Design Standards and Health and Safety Regulations.
- Is committed to Continued Professional Development.
The ability to work as part of a team. - Problem solving and organisational skills.
Desirable:
- Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body.
- Awareness of types of engineering contracts.
- Knowledge of BIM and an understanding of core concepts and principles.
- Experience in the field of geotechnical works.
- Full clean drivers license.
- Awareness of the principles of Eurocodes in geotechnical design
