DWF are currently recruiting for a Paralegal to join their team. The Resolution Law Claimant litigation team handle a varied case load involving RTA claims for personal injury and financial losses and claims for vehicle related losses (ULR). A feature of almost all of these claims is that they involve liability denials or causation denials and quantum disputes. A high percentage of the claims need to be litigated.

This role offers hybrid working.

Responsibilities

  • Handling a mixed RTA caseload of ULR and personal injury matters of between 80 and 140 cases from the time the dispute is raised to case completion;
  • Working in an organised manner to ensure that cases are progressed proactively and that deadlines are met and disbursements are recorded and recovered;
  • Assessing prospects of success on cases upon which liability and causation is disputed;
  • Dealing with all stages of the litigation process including drafting particulars of claim and loss schedules, complying with Court directions and drafting court documents, preparing witness statements, preparing a trial bundle and briefing counsel;
  • Negotiating with opposing insurers and solicitors to achieve case settlements;
  • Achieve time recording targets;
  • Achieve individual financial targets in line with sales plan;
  • Deliver excellent client care and understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice;
  • Develop increased levels of technical and commercial knowledge via training or supervised working practices.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • The role would suit a candidate with up to 3 years of Claimant RTA litigation experience in particular dealing with ULR cases, OIC portal disputes and cases that have exited the OIC portal or the MOJ portal.
  • A working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules is required.
  • Demonstrate technical and commercial expertise in the above areas and an ability to deliver results within required time frames.

Desirable

  • Effective diary management and being able to work to deadlines and progress matters in a timely manner is required.
  • Excellent communication skills
