About the role
You will join our Ink Development team within Group R&D, reporting to one of the Chemists. Your role as a placement student will involve formulating fluid products in the laboratory, testing them in printers and taking them all the way to manufacturing.
You will work within a small team in an innovative and dynamic environment with cutting-edge analytical and printing equipment. You will be developing reliable solutions to help the world’s manufacturers be sustainable and cut waste while attracting, informing, and protecting consumers following Domino values.
As part of your role, you will
Work closely with colleagues as part of a team of scientists on formulation, testing and other experimental work against a set of established test methods derived from customer needs to meet specifications and deadlines specifications
- Ensure a high level of scientific rigor is used in the compilation and analysis of data
- Write reports and communicate findings at group meetings
- Provide support to the team
- Maintaining the housekeeping standards within the laboratory environment
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with Group health, safety, and environmental policies.
About you
We are looking for someone with a positive and proactive approach to work and enthusiasm for hands-on lab work. Our ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker who pays attention to the details, is results driven and has good scientific writing skills. Some experience and knowledge that would be beneficial for the role includes:
- Some knowledge and awareness of basic laboratory and chemical handling techniques
- Reasonable theoretical understanding of chemistry
- Good problem solving skills
Most importantly we want someone with an inquisitive mind who is keen to learn. Our successful candidate will be a quick learner and self-starter who can communicate clearly and concisely and work collaboratively with others.
We require students to apply who have interests in the following: Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Colour Science and Analytical Chemistry.
