Applying to the Hardlines Product Design & Development Internship gives you the chance to be part of the world’s largest licensor of intellectual property, as part of our skilled Disney Consumer Products creative team. With placements across many areas of the business, you will have the opportunity to dive into the world of our iconic brands ranging from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox. You’ll play a crucial role to ensure our diverse product portfolio resonates with fans and reflects our storytelling excellence.
This internship immerses you into the product development lifecycle of our Hardlines licensed products from concept design to sample refinement to seeing the products you have helped to develop at retail. The role covers a broad range of responsibilities, working with the wider creative team to execute the product development process and support in design projects, trend research and organisational tasks. Sketching and visualisation skills are essential. The role will require you to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners (licensees) to design and develop best in class product for our most beloved brands.
Internships will be available across multiple Hardlines teams covering a range of product categories:
- Plush and Toys development
- Infant, Preschool, Vehicles, Role Play and Action Toys alongside Star Wars development
- Party, Dress-up, Promotional Products, Arts & Crafts, Games & Puzzles, Dolls and Role Play development

This role will require you to be onsite 4 days a week.
Eligibility
- Must be a second year undergraduate student on an industrial placement year course returning to study in Autumn 2026
- Must have the right to work in the UK already in place
- Available to start working full time from June 2025
- Interested in the area you are applying for; whether this is through your studies, experiences, extracurricular activities or a general interest
About you
- Strong design and conceptual skills with abilities in analogue/digital sketching, visualisation and designing 3D products
- Competent in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Ability to use Keynote and Microsoft Office packages
- Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
- Strong organization and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels in a professional manner
