Position summary

You will have the opportunity to gain experience through providing support to both the local Business Unit (BU) Finance team and Global Corporate Finance team. The time spent with the local BU team will focus on Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, compliance, and project work, whilst the corporate team workload will involve Financial Planning & Analysis, business partnering and financial control.

You will be guaranteed to gain both technical and interpersonal skills by working with stakeholders at different levels across the business, gaining insight into what finance means in industry and developing your knowledge of financial systems and processes.

You will work as part of a diverse team of individuals with various accreditations and backgrounds including, but not exclusively, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, Audit and Manufacturing. You will also be collaborating closely with senior members of staff, having exposure to leadership, decision-making, industry knowledge, and professional development opportunities.

Main responsibilities

Advanced Staining Reagents BU

  • Processing of AP invoices including three-way match.
  • Review and document aged items, including partnering with requisitioners to resolve quantity and price discrepancies.
  • Assist with financial forecasting and preparation of monthly variance analysis.
  • Complete SOX testing and follow up to ensure that any remediation action plans are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Lead a bespoke project to streamline and standardise financial processes, aligning with senior management and updating documentation as necessary.

Corporate Finance

  • Support Corporate Function leaders with ad hoc financial analysis, forecast preparation and variance analysis.
  • Assist with Balance Sheet Review (small-scale audits).
  • Completion of monthly financial and operating statistics for reporting to Danaher corporate.
  • Drafting and improving Standard Operating Procedure documentation for core financial processes.
  • Assist with global standardisation projects as assigned.
  • Prepare global variance analysis for P&L / Working capital items.

Applications and Software

  • SAP – our primary finance software, SAP is a leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software suite used by large organisations worldwide.

The ideal candidate will

  • Be working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance (or related subject).
  • Have a keen passion for the finance business function – tell us your hobbies or interests that are connected.
  • Be able to demonstrable experience in taking initiative and driving continuous improvement.
  • Have strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Be organised with an ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • Be adaptable to change & able to work well under pressure.
  • Be diligent and detail driven.
  • Have familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel.
