We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrochemistry student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Components (Accelera) business unit in Milton Keynes. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 4 th August 2025.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Leading projects that characterise the cell performance, cycle life, and calendar life under different experimental conditions
- These factors can include temperature, state of charge windows, current rates, compression pressure, busbar connections, as well as various cells utilising different chemistries
- Analse test data, characterise, and create reports on these findings
- Key deliverables include written reports and presentations to key stakeholders, including UK and US teams
- Findings from projects will be used to support the development and validation of existing and new battery product lines
- The role allows for the continued improvement of in-house research projects, supporting advanced engineering activities from designing and validating new testing equipment to provide greater testing and validation of key input parameters. into other engineering functions such as mechanical and thermal management
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Studying towards a technical degree in either Pure/Applied Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (other Science/Engineering degrees are encouraged to apply)
- Interest in Elctrochemistry and Li-ion batteries
- Experience with Python or MATLAB would be beneficial for data analysis
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, including Excel
