We are looking for an enthusiastic Placement Student - Digital to join our team specializing in Service Engineering for our Engine Business Unit in Darlington Engine Plant, during your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 1 July 2025.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Acquiring, transforming and analysing data to provide meaningful insights to a variety of stakeholders
  • Working within an area of the Service Engineering Team to make a positive difference across the department
  • Work innovatively to support the development and validation of new Cummins products through the Serviceability and design review processes ensuring dashboards and documentation are updated regularly and collaborating with key stakeholders to gather data
  • Use MATLAB and other software to provide advanced analysis of the performance of our products
  • Supporting the identification, resolution, and implementation of fixes on key product issues with OEM’s
  • Collaborates with the OEM and Supplier during warranty assessments on return parts
  • Collaborates with the Field Service Engineers, Factory Experts, OEMS’s and End users to complete appropriate field investigations and data gathering of reported/predicted field issues.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • We are looking for a wide range of applicants studying towards a STEM degree with critical thinking skills is suitable for this role.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team with experience contributing to or leading a group project.
  • Strong desire to learn with knowledge of the practical application of science or engineering concepts.
  • Good level of skill using Microsoft applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to use Power BI and MATLAB - highly desirable
  • Ability to code in Python - desirable
