The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Battery Pack Design Placement Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in UK, Milton Keynes. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 4 th Aug 2025.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Participate within the product development team alongside mechanical, electrical & thermal engineers with particular focus on mechanical product design.
  • Develop an understanding of fundamental structural design, product development cycle & designing in context.
  • Design components using CAD systems, to meet technical requirements in context with a focus on low-cost, design for manufacture & assembly.
  • Document design principles across a wide range of commodities & co-ordinate some basic analysis on those designs (vibration, crash, thermal loading, mechanical shock).
  • Get an insight into the product design and development battery electric industry and get a chance to see their designs in the flesh via component testing, system level validation and prototype builds.
  • First-hand experience of concept through to detail design and work on proactively identifying potential failure modes via engineering toolsets and determining how these can be mitigated through optimal design.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Studying for a technical degree in either Mechanical/Automotive/Design/Thermal Design or Electrical Engineering.
  • Has a keen interest in electrification and Li-ion batteries.
  • Excellent IT Skills, in particular Microsoft Office, presentation, CAD systems and report writing skills.
  • A willingness to challenge the norm and constantly look for improvements.
