What to expect

As the R&D Engineering Intern of our Process Innovation Team, you will interact with R&D personnel, regulatory teams, manufacturing and their support function. You will have the ability to get involved in a variety of submicron manufacturing processes supporting mass production of regulated medical devices. You will contribute to a new product development that are heading for commercialisation as well as long term future research programmes.

  • To participate in the prototyping, development and verification of new products, making use of appropriate data analysis tools/models where required.
  • To design and fabricate prototype jigs for bench-top/small scale trials.
  • To identify new methods of product development, and improve existing methods and techniques, to guide process control.
  • To assist in the identification of improvement areas and to improve accordingly using a data driven approach.
  • Design of experiments, data analysis and reporting. To include hands-on management of trials.
  • Writing of technical reports.
  • To ensure all staff use the protective equipment provided and follow laid down safety procedures.
  • Understand and implement the ‘Change Control’ procedures ensuring all procedures are kept up to date.

About you

We are looking for someone with a Passion and interest in developing cutting edge innovative processes in the medical device field.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Mechanical Engineering/physical science background.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge Strong analytical skills / use of statistical methods and software tools.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to communicate across all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good presentation and report writing skills.
  • Software programming skills (e.g. VB, MATLAB or others)

Education

  • Currently undertaking an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering / R&D / Physical Science or a closely related degree, and plan on pursuing a career in a related field.
