Role summary
The world’s leading integrated shipping services group has an exciting opportunity for a numerate undergraduate to join our Market Analysis team in London this summer for 12-14 months. This will afford the opportunity to work in a team analysing shipping and commodities markets, as well as gaining exposure to the commercial side of the world’s shipping industry.
What you’ll be doing
- Maintaining key databases and presentation slide packs that underpin the work of the Market Analysis team.
- Supporting senior team members in preparing presentations that are delivered to key clients.
- Providing general assistance to the Market Analysis team and brokers with a variety of ad-hoc analytical requests.
- Using internal software to track and analyse vessel activities with relevance to commodity markets and geopolitical developments.
- Possibility to interact with a wide range of internal and external clients and attain a good understanding of the global shipping industry.
- Possibility of working on the maintenance and development of databases and improvement of automation and data processing using SQL, Python and VBA.
- Opportunity to develop skills in handling of large data sets using the aforementioned coding languages.
- Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Other requirements
- Highly numerate.
- Computer literate (including MS Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of VBA and Python useful but not essential.

- Have excellent communication skills, being fluent in written and spoken English.
