It’s about more than analysing data. On this scheme you’ll help influence policy and shape the government’s responses to today’s essential economic issues. With postings across a range of areas, government departments or agencies, and, potentially, sometimes overseas, your work will take in the full range of economic approaches, methods and applications. You’ll experience the application of economics in the real world, in areas like international financial issues and local government finance. And you’ll apply your knowledge to help improve national socio-economic outcomes, as well as delivery in areas like public health, housing benefits and criminal justice

Training includes

As well as core leadership and other practical skills training, you’ll develop your professional economics knowledge through on-the-job learning. You’ll also have access to economistspecific technical training, seminars and other courses, which can be tailored to your specific learning needs.

To apply, you'll need

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • A 2:1 or higher degree or degree apprenticeship (or be expecting to achieve this), or a post-graduate degree in economics.
  • For joint degrees at least 50% of the course modules should be in economics, and you must have studied both micro and macroeconomics to qualify.
  • f you graduated more than five years ago, then you must be able to show how you’ve maintained your economic knowledge.
