As part of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, you’ll be working at the heart of international economic issues, development and foreign policy. Focussing on both country-specific and thematic projects that look across borders, you’ll help inform decision-making on international policy, partnerships, diplomacy and aid spending. From alleviating poverty to enabling prosperity, you’ll work on issues that matter to millions of people.

Training includes

As well as professional economics and analysis training, you’ll also have core skills training on leadership, diplomatic tradecraft and international development. This will be supplemented by other formal courses, on-the-job learning and the opportunity to gain recognised language qualifications. 

To apply, you'll need

  • British citizenship (those with dual nationality may apply).
  • To have been a resident in the UK for at least 5 of the previous 10 years, including a consecutive 12-month period.
  • A 2:1 or higher (or be expecting to achieve this), or a post-graduate degree in an economic subject. For mixed degrees, at least 50% should be in economics
