Citi is looking for a summer analyst to join the Investment Banking, Data Science team in London. The Investment Banking group provides sector expertise and advisory solutions, including mergers & acquisitions, capital raising and other strategic financings to corporate, financial service and public sector clients.

We’re committed to teaching you the ropes. The 10-week summer analyst program starts in June and begins with a one-week training program in London. After which, you will join the UK, Europe and MEA Data Science Investment Banking Team to support a growing business and be fully integrated to the team during your internship. Successful summer analysts will be considered for a full-time position after graduation.

Your time here will look something like this

  • The Strategic Advisory Solutions Group is a critical and growing part of the investment banking division focused on advising Citi’s global clients and their boards of directors on issues related to shareholder activism, takeover defense, contested M&A, capital structure, valuation, corporate governance and investor dynamics.
  • The Data Science summer analyst will play an important role working together with more senior CIB officers and professionals, and participating in particular client transactions, live projects or assignments.
  • In addition to preparing client materials, the Data Science summer analyst will work directly with senior leaders in the IB and the Chief Data Scientist to generate novel and differentiated analytics, platforms and tools to improve our understanding of clients’ investor base, capital structure and strategic actions, all the while creating efficiency and scale.
  • The Data Science summer analyst will be required to balance a broad set of deliverables ranging from direct client work to developing insightful and practical analytical models and will therefore require strong time management and communication skills in combination with core technical abilities.

We want to hear from you if

  • You are in your penultimate/final year of university.
  • Expected to achieve or have achieved a 2:1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level in data science, economics, finance, statistics, or another quantitative field.
  • You have an interest in business.
  • You are fluent in a 2nd language (this is desirable but not essential).

  • Duties of the Data Science summer analyst position requires the theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge.
  • Demonstrated interest and initial ability to build scalable analytics using data science software (Python, R, SQL, etc.) and developing and implementing web APIs.
  • Organizing and analyzing sophisticated financial data used in client proposals.
  • Evaluating company’s financial performance compared to overall industry and market trends.
  • Creating marketing materials for M&A and Capital Markets transactions.

The role currently offers a hybrid working model, with a mandatory three days in your assigned office, and an optional two days from home. Citi supports this business model, subject to business approval.
