What you’ll be doing

Architecture + Exhibition design at Christie’s is a hybrid practice that integrates aspects of different disciplines: exhibition design, 3D and Architectural design and graphic design. It involves designing spaces across the EMEA region to show and sell art to our clients, creating bespoke exhibitions to enhance sales and create a distinct offering unmatched by Christie’s competitors, or designing sets for photo and video campaigns, to name a few.  This exciting role is suitable for Part 2 architects with excellent spatial design skills, a true passion for the arts and luxury industries, and with an interest to explore the world of exhibition design and interior design for the art and luxury businesses.

Working in a positive, friendly and adaptable, digital-first environment, the goal is to assist the Architect and Lead Exhibition designer in the delivery of top-level exhibition projects, as well as in the design of new permanent galleries and workspaces across the EMEA region. A rare opportunity to work on some very exciting interior design projects from concept to detail and completion, and to venture into the world of exhibition design, creating exhibitions for Christie’s beautiful galleries in Central London

 What your day might look like

  • Conveying ideas through sketches, photomontages and 3D renderings/visualisations
  • Drawing of plans, sections and elevations with different levels of details according to project phase
  • Laying out of drawings of visuals to explain the projects in a clear way
  • Working collaboratively with other designers from the Creative Studio when required
  • Assisting in the supervision exhibitions & signage installations
  • Attend kick-off meetings to shadow the Architect & Lead Exhibition Designer as briefed by the Marketing team to develop exhibition design.
  • Assist with obtaining images from our internal servers for exhibition graphics and windows.
  • Organise large amounts of information in spreadsheets, redraw items from various sources, prepare assets to allow further design work.
  • Liaise with suppliers to discuss solutions and secure quotes
  • Source and arrange hire of furniture and props and return
  • Performing other duties as assigned by manager

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Architecture student with Part 2 completed, looking for work experience
  •  Interest in design of spaces for art and luxury, as well as exhibition design and ephemeral architecture
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D
  • Good knowledge in 3D visualisation software, such as Rhino and/or Cinema 4D
  • Dedication and strong attention to detail
  • Positive, motivated individual who enjoys new challenges
  • A strong portfolio of work developed at university or outside
  • Ability to work independently while following the directions received by the line manager
  • Demonstrable experience in drawing clear and compelling architectural drawings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work to very tight deadlines
