Environmental Strategy 

Our family of iconic brands offer you the chance to open career-changing doors. You will be helping Centrica develop, implement, and monitor the progress of our climate change strategy for both our own operations but also for our customers.  You will get first-hand insight into how the energy industry is changing and the different energy decarbonisation pathways for the future . 

The role is challenging, rewarding and diverse. You will be working with the Group Environment Team, in the Strategy, Environment and Brand Reputation Function. You will be collaborating with colleagues across the wider business and within the team, exposing you to a range of opportunities to expand your skill set and broaden your knowledge of the business.  

You will help manage Centrica’s environmental performance reporting using our unique reporting platform. You will need to be confident in IT applications, in particular Excel; as well as able to communicate effectively with operational teams and other functions.  You will need to be innovative and agile to overcome hurdles and contribute towards a responsible business.  

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to the role; for example, your tasks might include: 

  • Calculating carbon and energy savings for products such as smart meters and CHPs, 
  • Modelling future carbon emission trends and improving scope 1,2&3 reporting 
  • Assisting on the assurance of our progress against environmental targets 
  • Benchmarking and research on best practise  
  • Supporting disclosure for CDP, TCFD and mandatory environmental reporting projects  

The role location is flexible allowing for working from home, with regular (3-4 times a week) from the Windsor office with occasional visits to other offices and our assets. 

Here's what we need from you

  • Expecting a 2:1 degree (STEM subject preferred) 
  • Right to work in the UK 
  • A passion for tackling environmental issues and climate change, with a strong interest in sustainability and the energy sector  Strong teamworking skills alongside the ability to work independently 
  • Willing to relocate 
  • Available to start the programme Tuesday 17th June 2025 until Friday 31st July 2026
