Control & Instrumentation Engineering
As the UK’s largest integrated energy company, when we say we can give you an experience like no other, we really mean it! Our diverse portfolio of assets will expose you to a unique and wide-ranging set of activities and opportunities – making this the perfect place to launch your career in engineering.
Engineers are at the heart of developing, operating, upgrading and/or decommissioning all of Centrica’s energy asset portfolio. This portfolio includes the largest gas store in the UK, offshore and onshore gas production assets and Net Zero projects including solar, battery and hydrogen technologies.
Our summer placement programme will immerse you in the engineering behind these assets, supporting dynamic teams and taking on real engineering challenges. No practical control and instrumentation engineering experience? No problem. With a positive and proactive attitude, on this programme you will gain first-hand experience of an industrial environment, helping you develop into a successful engineer of the future.
Centrica’s assets are based across the UK, with hubs in Windsor, Hessle (East Yorkshire) and Brigg (North Lincolnshire). Our nine-week summer placement will have elements of in-person activity at Windsor and at operational sites, and the extent of travel and in-person activity varies depending on the exciting projects our interns get involved in!
Here's what we need from you
- Expecting a 1st degree in a suitable electronics/controls and instrumentation (or closely related) engineering discipline, accredited by the relevant engineering institution (or a 2:1 with Masters)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Available to start the programme from 17th June – Friday 15th August 2025
