This is an exciting and unique opportunity to spend 1 (one) week as part of the in-house legal team of the largest real estate company in the world.
Who are we and why join our team?
CBRE’s dynamic and fast-paced legal team based in London consists of 5 qualified lawyers, Company Secretary and support staff. The team is split into the UK legal team and EMEA legal team who work closely together on a huge variety and range of legal issues.
The UK team provides legal support on all matters to the UK business. This includes drafting, negotiating and successfully completing a broad range of contracts including NDAs, client contracts, agreements with our charity partners, sponsorship agreements and standard terms of business as well as litigation matters. The EMEA team oversees the provision of legal services to CBRE’s Advisory business across 28 countries in the region. It takes a lead role in negotiating cross-border MSAs and framework agreements and works collaboratively with CBRE’s in-house legal teams in 17 countries on a series of legal matters ranging from litigation to client engagement terms. Both teams also work closely together to co-ordinate legal training for the business as well as a number of charity and diversity initiatives.
What you can expect
Our programme is a great chance for you to get an insight into the Real Estate industry in the EMEA region (with particular focus on the UK market) and allow you to practically apply what has been taught at university. You can expect a varied and engaging programme consisting of drafting and negotiating legal documents, reviewing forms of documentation and providing your own mark-up, attending meetings with lawyers from the team and carrying out a research assignment which can then be used by the team. Your time with us will see you take on real responsibility and allow you to build relationships within the organisation.
Feedback will be given throughout the week to make this a useful and relevant placement. You will have the opportunity to work directly with CBRE’s lawyers and will get valuable insight into the day to day responsibilities of an in-house lawyer.
The programme also encompasses soft skills training including CV workshop, interview workshop and networking.
